Northern Port Phillip's Premier Regatta

The historic Lipton Cup trophy is back for 2025!

Taking place on 14, 15 & 16 November this year, the Lipton Cup Regatta is a multi-class sailing event hosted by RYCV, which is expected to attract more than 200 entries.

 

This year’s regatta will commence with an invitational Twilight Race on Friday 14th November, where all regatta competitors will be invited to head to Royals to join our local boats to compete in a short passage race to get all teams in the mood for a great weekend of racing, and then join us for the Pre-Regatta Race Briefing and some fabulous Royals hospitality and entertainment.

All competitors visiting from other clubs will be granted free berthing with their race entry, so that everyone will have the opportunity to enjoy all of what the regatta has to offer across the entire weekend.

​

The regatta will commence in earnest on Saturday morning 15th of November, with the Off The Beach (OTB) classes heading to their racing area north of the club in the waters of Hobsons Bay, for a series of premiere races across multiple classes including International Cadets, Optimists and mirrors.

​

The Keelboat Fleet will make it’s way south to the waters of Altona Bay for a what will be up to three windward / leeward races, with courses designated for both mixed fleet performance racing across multiple divisions, as well as a separate course for class specific One Design racing, including Adams 10’s, S80’s Bluebirds and Etchells.

​

For those competitors that are more interested in passage racing, a cruising with and without spinnakers division will head across the the eastern side of the shipping channel to its own dedicated start area, for a passage race around fixed bay marks.

​

On Sunday, our OTB Fleet will once again head out into Hobsons Bay for a Sprint Series, and all keelboat competitors will combine for to compete in a medium distance passage race with multiple course options to ensure that all competitors complete their designated course in a similar time.

​

At the conclusion of the passage race, all competitors will be welcomed back to the lawn at the Club for a comprehensive presentation event which will see competitors across all divisions being recognised for their achievements, as well as the awarding of the Lipton Cup for 2025.

​

Royals' fabulous hospitality will be on offer right across the weekend starting on Friday afternoon with an extensive food and beverage menu on offer, as well as live entertainment to please all ages.
